I’m sort of a beginner and just started to knit Capelet after finished about 7 scarves. I thought I can be able to do this but I’m so stuck. I don’t know how to read or understand this instruction. So, please someone help me and translate in English so I can understand.:hair:
Here’s where I’m stuck
[B]Rnd 6:[/B] k1 rnd even, Cont to dec 4 sts on next and following alternate rnds as est until there are 68 sts.
so, I think I understood this as you knit one round and decrease 4 sts but is it mean to decrease with tog? or sst?
and is it mean to decrease 4 sts at the same time or 2 at a time for 4 dec sts? I just did sst at a time for 4 times and knit rest round and repeated for 5 rounds to get to 68 sts.
I don’t know if this is right.
[B]Divide Front and back-Next Row:[/B] Bind off 3 sts; k31, turn and leave rem sts unworked.
Cont in St st for back and bind off 3 sts at ge of next row, then 2 sts at ge of following 4 rows-14 sts. Place these sts on stitch holder.
With RS facing, join yarn to first unworked st on circular needle and work front same as back.
I am so lost. Please please help me… I came this far and I’m getting depressed because I can’t finish it.
However you decreased up to that point is how you should have continued the decreases.
On the next step, you’re going to be working on only half the capelet at a time. The front and back will be separated to allow for armholes.
Just follow the directions as written. Bind off 3 (for the underarm) and knit across the next 31 stitches. Then turn your work as if you finished the row. You’ll only be working on these stitches.
After you turn them, you’ll bind off 4 stitches to match the other side and purl the rest of those stitches.
Then on the next 4 rows, bind off two stitches at the beginning of each row. You should have 14 stitches left.
Then break off your yarn and do the same to the stitches that are remaining on the needle.
I think I understand the concept now but I have one more question. So when I leave the unworked sts in front and work the back, do I use same circular needle that I’ve been working on? or use different needle with this?
This Capelet don’t have sleeves.
They required to have double pointed needles for the collar.
Collar: with RS facing and set of 4 dpns, k14 from the back and front stitch holders-28sts. Divide sts over 3 needles as follows: N1-10sts; N2-10 sts; N3-8 sts. Join in round, pm before first stitch. Work 41/2 in k1, p1 rib. Bind off loosely in rib. Weave in ends.
So, I guess I don’t have to switch the needles till when I’m ready for the Collar.
How do I work the front and leave the unworked rem sts then go back to front with same needle?
