I need help with a pattern

I am new two knitting. This is my first blanket and I could use some help.
It says to cast on 124 sts.
Rows 1-4 knit
row 5 K3, P13; [K1, P6, K1, P13] 5 times, K3

I moved on to row 6 and it says
K2 (edge sts), P1, K1, [K2, K2tog, yo] 3 times; P1, K6, P1, [yo, SSK, K2] 3 times K1*, P1, K6, P1; rep from * across, ending last rep at **, P1, K2 (edge sts.)

When I do row 6 I can knit it all the way to the last time and then I don’t have enough to finish [yo, SSK, K2] 3 times. I have enough for one full time and four sts. left over. Can someone please explain to me how to knit this row?

You end up doing the pattern repeat (from the * until the very last p1, k2 edge stitches) twice and a partial pattern repeat (from the * until ** once. with the edge stitches either end that gives you a stitch total of 124. i think if i can count properly.

the bits in square brackets [] are pairs of increases and decreases, so make sure youa re doing them correctly. the k2tog and the ssk is a decrease (2 stitches becoming one) and the yo is a single increase. These decreases are where i could see problems with your stitch count apearing.
