I just have to share

So, this is like my 6th attempt at making socks - this poor yarn… I can’t believe it is actually still in one piece from all the frogging I have done! I first tried on dpns - did not like!! Then using 2 circs from the top down - did not like!! (Well, maybe it was the pattern, or not being used to using sock yarn) This time I gave it a shot using 2 circs, but making them toe up. Found a great tutorial and a nice simple lace pattern, and voila! I am at the point of creating the gusset and have yet to frog the suckers! So, I just thought I would share my progress  Maybe by posting here, I will not only finish this sock, but also not suffer from SSS!

Anyhow,

It’s looking really nice! I use two circs most of the time. Like anything else it just takes practice.

They’re looking beautiful. I agree totally with Jan! I really enjoying knitting socks 2 on 2 circs. I had to start over quite a few times when I was learning. It looks like you’ve got the technique down now!!:cheering:

That sock looks GREAT!!

wow! that’s a really pretty sock, both yarn and pattern. congrats!i just the other day tried toe-up sock,a plainvanilla one, but am using dpns; can’t quite get the 2 circs, seem to get tangly on me. am not sure there is enough yarn tho, so am making both at the same time, on 2 sets of dpns and so far, so good!!linknit41

You’re doing great! :cheering: It’s a beautiful sock and yarn. Keep at it! Once you feel them on your feet you won’t have SSS!

It took me awhile to get the hang of socks. My first pair consisted of one sock that was all blue and one that was blue, black, and pink. :teehee: All because I ran out of yarn! (You can check them out here http://www.knittinghelp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75097, as that was a while ago)By the way, that color is really pretty, and those socks are looking fabulous!

It’s nice am sure u will like when completed …gud lucks

Looks great so far! Love the pattern and the yarn.

Actually, I kinda wish I had tried doing both at once, but I figured I would keep it a simple as possible lol!

I SO much prefer the 2 circs to DPNs - I kept having those suckers slip out of my work, and found it much harder to tink back when I needed to.

LOL - I keep “trying them on” (another advantage of doing them toe-up) and I am already in love!

my first attempt to knit with dpns was with aluminum needles, and they did keep slipping out, so i put away that idea for a long while. then i received a set of assorted sizes of birch dpns and they are not so slippery. i also made a set of 5 dpns myself out of cedar (have trees in my yard and used prunings from them) and that is what i am using for the 2 socks at a time. i really like the wood or bamboo needles. linknit41

Congrats!!! YOu’re making nice progress!

Hey, those are coming along nicely. Did you do 6 attempts and no other socks completed? That was my understanding. Perserverance! That looks like a pretty complex stitch you have going if these are your first socks. Really nice.
