(I hope) I de-curled my stockinette scarf

I figured I’d post this little experiment for anyone that doesn’t believe stockinette will curl or wonders about sewing fabric to yarn.

After hanging for quite a while, my stockinette scarf curled awfully. A little curl I could deal with, but I really like the colors in this one and was to the point where I wouldn’t use it because of the curl. I didn’t see the thread about how badly stockinette curls until I had finished this. Anyway… I’ve attemped to de-curl it by sewing a cotton fabric backing to the purl side. I’d never sewn yarn before so this was all an experiment.

Other than the edges being a little ziggy I think it turned out ok and it’s super warm and heavy now! Plus nobody will notice the edges but me anyway. I can’t see the red thread on the yarn side either!

It’s now in the peg-hanging experiment stage. (crossing fingers)

I hope it works out, it’s a lovely scarf!

:cheering: That is a beautiful scarf! :cheering:

beautiful!! It looks soft! :inlove:

I love that scarf! Great job

LOVE it…was it a pattern, or did you wing the colors?

I’m a native Detroiter!!! Grew up in Royal Oak!!

Great idea. I think it looks great!

This was a “recycled” yarn project from the thrift store from a striped sweater; I’d posted it as FO before, but the curling was getting really bad so it still needed work. It was a learning experience unravelling, washing, and winding all the yarn. I just winged the colors and length of use… this was a “practice changing colors” piece that turned out really cute. I hope it’s even better now.

Thanks for the nice comments
