I have a confession to make

I’m a yarn thrower. Yes… sigh it’s true. I throw my yarn.

I do…

I’m a continental knitter, but I don’t hold my working yarn like most others do. I’m told that most people wrap the working yarn around their left index or pinky finger. I’ve tried that and it just doesn’t work for me.

I confess. I’m the odd one out… I’m a yarn thrower. lol

OMG, for a second I thought you were gonna say you throw yarn away.
Who are we to judge, those that use english, want to be conti, and vice versa… :teehee:

I used to knit like that. Do you mean that you still wrap (throw) the yarn around the needle with your left hand, but you don’t wrap the yarn around your fingers??? Now I knit the same way that Amy demonstrates in her continental videos and it goes so much faster for me now, but whatever works!! THERE’S NO SHAME IN BEING A THROWER!!! :teehee:

I do that, I still throw my yarn around my needlewith yarn in my left hand as I knit conti style. It is much faster, but I have way uneven sts when I do it like amy does! Still, I’m faster than I was when I knitted English.

i do that when i purl!

If you’re a yarn thrower as in knitting methods - no shame in that.

If you’re a yarn thrower as in throwing yarn away - shame on you, you should be giving it to me! :teehee:

Andrea and Hildie both purl that way; and I think Andrea knits that way, too. You’re not alone! As long as it gets the job done, who cares how it happens–do what feels good!

I don’t see the problem. All I heard (or read, actually) was…

La la la yarn la. Ls… la la la. La la la yarn.

La la…

La la la knitter, la la la la la la yarn la la la la. La la la la la la la la yarn la la la la la la la. La la la la la la la la la la.

La la. La la la la la… La la yarn la. lol

:roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:
All that matters is the yarn and knittingand the enjoyment that comes from it, right? As long as you’re comfy doing it and like your finished result, that’s all that matters. :muah:

:roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:
Hehehehe!!! Ok, that has me chuckling!!! I have tried to wrap the yarn around my finger like Amy does in her video and also like Debbie (the author of Stitch N’ Bitch) says to do… but… eh… my stitches look like I tried to knit with a wooden hand or something. I just cannot find a comfy way to do that. I’m willing to bet I’d be much faster, however, if I could.

When I learned to crochet I learned how to hold yarn in my left hand with it wrapped around my finger. It helped to translate how to knit conti. I still knit english anyway tho

I, too, am a yarn thrower…there, I’ve said it!

I don’t know what I am. I know not of this "throwing’ you speak of.

…But I know I don’t wrap the yarn around any of my fingers. :shifty:

i hold the yarn in between my middle and my RING (whoohoo) finger… (and i did it that way before i gotta ring on the ring finger heheh) and when i purl i hold it between my thumb & pointer… i didnt think it odd when i started but i dunno if anyone else knits that way…

so thats my confession as a continental knitter…

I knit conti style, and wrap the yarn around my pinky, but I use my finger to throw/lay the yarn on the needle rather than “picking” it with the needle. Did that make sense? Am I a conti thrower, also?!
