I would send you one of our EIGHT videotapes, but I’d have to wrench them out of DD’s cold dead hands. (It may come to that.) It’s sad that these guys are going to be the “Captain Kangaroo” for this generation.

I taught my grandson to say “Barney is dumb” when he was about two so I could avoid having it on.
The Wiggles are just lame, buy innocent enough. I think the kids who love them now will tire of them quickly when they get to the point where they see things that are a little more “sophisticated.”
I kind of liked Teletubbies, though!
To my daughters credit she does will pick a The Who concert we have TiVo’ed over the Wiggles almost always. Well, I think that shows promise… my mother disagrees :rollseyes:

My sister-in-laws neice HAD to have a Barney birthday cake when she was two and they searched high and low for a cake pan shaped like the purple lord of all that is unholy. They got it, made the dang cake, only to have her literally FREAK out when the cake got cut up to eat…

My apologies to anyone, I am only joking, although Barney bugs me too, I am all for anything that entertains in a harmless way… Kids don’t stay kids as long anymore…sigh, I miss Easy Reader… I thought the Electric Company was filmed up here, since they had “Fargo NorthDecoder” and I live in Fargo North Dakota… who knew?

My son (he’s 27 now) learned to read at 4 because of the Letter People and the Electric Company. I read to my kids all the time, too, so I get some credit, but the actual mechanics came from these shows.
i didn’t watch much tv when i was a kid. i have a twin so i always had someone to play with so we didn’t watch that much tv to actually learn something!!! 
Not that my mom used the TV as a babysitter, but the only way she could bathe regularly for all of the first 5 yrs of the 70’s was thanks to Sesame Street. Aparently my favorite line was “It’s the clummer, and I’ve come to fix the sink…” :roflhard: She says I had trouble saying PLumber, so I said CLummer instead.
My faves were Electric Co. (who knew Easy Reader would eventually Drive Miss Daisy?) and Capt. Kangaroo… gotta love Mr. Moose and Mr. Rabbit… And I know my name is Simon, and the things I draw come true…

hey that was Morgan Freeman wasn’t it! Wow, now i know why i like him so much… i grew up watching him! i was watching him on “Kiss the Girls” last night and just was wondering what it was about him that i liked so much!
Jeff Wiggle is creepy (the purple guy) one of them has catepillars for eyebrows. I am SOOO glad my kids are out of that phase.
Now it’s Dora, But she is cute and my kids can count in spanish now.
mine too! :cheering: one day i heard my 2 1/2 yo counting in spanish… i was so proud even if all i did was send her to her room so she would leave me alone!

When my 4 yr old first started counting he would say “Uno, dos, tres, popcorn, cinco…”
