I got a very strange pm from someone that is banned here,what should i do?
Ingrid has posted that it was spam. A lot of us got it too
I got it too, I just deleted it. Looks like the Mods are already on to her.

Yes and it seems as though many of us are “a random person.” I thought it was pretty funny that the “random person” they chose used to be an editor in a former life! I didn’t click the link (never know what you will get) but wasn’t sure she would want the opinion of someone who has learned to be hyper critical about writing. 
Looks like we all got it! I did, too. Just deleted it, I’m sure it’s either #1. porn (and not the good kind-yarn) or B. some type of counter for # of times something is read to rate it.
Yep - I got it also. I did figure it might be spam so I just deleted it and then I read the post from Ingrid. Our Mods are a great bunch aren’t they!!!
I got that, too and after I read it, deleted it. I felt better about it after I read this post and saw that I wasn’t the only one. I didn’t click on the link either. Thanks Mods!
This person has been banned so the issue is taken care of for now.

Oh wow, I just got this and I didn’t see this thread til AFTER I wrote Sheldon that I had a bug coz the message wasn’t in my personal messages… I actually wrote a book so I thought she was writing me because of that!!! god. what a waste of time! (there’s also a post TO her saying I couldn’t open her message… excuse me!)
I got an Erin P email, too! But I never win the lottery or contests, so I don’t think I could ever be the “random” person she referred to- so I was suspicious from the start.
But just for future reference, who should we report this stuff to? How do we report it? And is there a “Naughty Bulletin” that we can check for warnings on spams and other nasties being sent to us knittinghelp people?

When I got mine I contacted a mod. becuz the message seemed weird. I asked if this was the proper thing to do, and was told “yes”. So, my understanding is, to just contact a mod and let them know what’s going on…
I wonder if KH could have done a massive PM to everyone and told us – “you may get a weird PM, pls. disregard and don’t click any links.” :shrug: Just curious??
On posts in the forum you can click on the “report” link that is on the lower left under your username, etc. If it’s a PM then just send a msg to a mod or admin.
These things happen so quickly there is only so much we can do. Sheldon immediately deleted all the offensive PMs from our inboxes, but to send out a mass email would have been hard to do I think and by the time it could be worded and sent a ton of people already knew about it. We do what we can, but there will always be weirdos.:shrug:
