I got a needle set

I just bought the Boye Needle Master on E-bay. The total price was $40.50 with shipping. :happydance: I’m so excited. ~Brooke

Congratulations! It will feel so good the next time you go to pick up yarn for a project and you get to say, “Well I have the needles so I don’t have to buy those”

I can’t wait for that. I’m excited that I never have to buy needles again. I have so many patterns that I was holding off till I had the needles. ~Brooke

Well, none except for DPNs, maybe…

I’m in no hurry to be buying DPNs. I have a set of size 4 and those should be ok if I ever decide to make socks. ~Brooke

I may never buy more DPN…the video has about knitting small diameter with two circular works great! Only DPN’s so far are my little #2’s for socks on the plane. Ohter than that, I think I’ll just keep using the 2 circular method!

Wow Kemp. I had never seen the video until now, that looks so much easier. ~Brooke

I want to try the two circular method, but I really like the DPNs. Well that and I’m so new to knitting that I follow the directions exactly. EXCEPT I’m working on sock number 2 of my second pair and this pattern I’m using says to use a set of 5 DPNs so that’s how I did the first sock, but I just don’t like working on 5 DPNs so I gasp and doing this second sock on four!

It was really easy and so cool when you put it down…you could have the stitches on the cord where there is no way they could fall off, as opposed to the DPN’s that you would need point protectors to be sure.

It really doesn’t do anything different to the pattern and I think it could be pretty cool for socks b/c when you get to the heel flap you arleady have the stitches divided into two rows…not positive if this would work though…maybe someone more experienced will comment becuase now I have myself wanting to know for sure! :??

It’s here It’s here! :inlove: I’m so excited. I’m gonna start on my hubby’s hat now. I love it. ~Brooke

:cheering:

Lesley, U will find that it’s going to be easier to use all 5 dpns bc when u r going from 1 dpn to the next u will be putting a lesser amt of pressure on that join if u have the yarn on 4 dpns instead of 3dpns

That makes sense, Rebecca, but then I have to change needles too often. I tend to put down my knitting, like now, between needles. Adding another needle would mean another 3 minutes lost of productivity per round. heheheheh

I like five dpns! I agree with Rebecca (but hey, it’s YOUR HANDS…)
Others also say a little hole can appear where you’re changing needles when they are stretched over just 3. That’s why I like 5.

Congrats on the new Boye set! I’ve been trying to decide on this for weeks. The 2 circulars really intimidates me. I’ll have to watch that video again!

P.S. That’s a great price you paid.

I’ve always used DPN’s, but since I figured out how to get “2 circulars” out of my one interchangeable set, I’ve been using that method often. I love having to carry just my compact Boye set with me!

My only complaint with the 2-circular method, is that I’m in the habit of occasionally pulling the work straight up to free more yarn, and I’ve come close a couple of times to having an eye taken out by those unweildly cable needles!

Congrats on getting that set Brooke! Wow, you got a great price, too! Was it a Buy-Now price from a regular seller? If so, share a link!

Amy

I am looking forward to buying a set too, eventually. It’s not necessarily (for me) having a set so i never have to buy needles again… b/c I always have several WIPs and I feel that I need at least 3 of each size needle (again, collecting/saving obsession).

No it was a regular auction. The price started a $19.99. I was hoping it would stay there. ~Brooke

That great! I got my Denise Interchangeables and LOVE IT! Sadly, I may have to buy more of the cords. I have way too many projects going on at once.

Would you care to share? That’s the only thing that’s keeping me from trying the two circular method, because I’d really like to make two socks at once.
