I am new, can someone explain this pattern to me?

I am very much a beginner, so I’m not sure if I can even handle this… LOL but… I am not sure I get it. Would I make the border and then attach the center? Do I use the bigger needles on the border and switch to the smaller ones for the middle?

I apologize for the stupid questions but there’s no one else I can ask and not feel stupid. I never have to face you guys, so if you laugh, I never have to know! :roflhard:

There’s always a lot of laughter around here, but NEVER at knitters’ questions. We’ve all had them at one time or another.

When they talk about the border on the blanket, it’s just created as you knit by a different stitch pattern. You won’t have to attach anything. The entire blanket is knit in one piece.

You start with the size 8 needles and knit the rows they tell you to. When they tell you to switch to the larger needles, just start knitting with them.

The pattern repeat for this is a multiple of 12 stitches plus 9. They don’t tell you how many stitches to cast on for the center part of the blanket, so make sure its any multiple of 12 plus 9 stitches more. So it could be 12, 24, 36, 48, etc., plus 9. These are the stitches that will be between the 5 stitches on each side for the border.

Thank you! I have other things I’m working on but tbey are much more simple than that blanket seems to me… LOL I just saw it and thought it was really pretty! I appreciate the help… another thing, how do you switch needles–just slip the loops off onto the other needles?? And is it hard to go from the smaller needles down to the larger and vice versa?

I appreciate you not laughing LOL

No slipping necessary, just start knitting onto the different size of needle! Easy peasy!
