5 sts, rib stitch, (1k,1p), cast off 4 sts in rib stitch, 8 sts, rib stitch, k2, 8 sts rib stitch, cast off 4sts in rib stitch, slip 2 sts knit, k8.
I am so confused, I don’t know how to do it, my mind is completely blank. Can any body help, please. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated it.

You could start by placing markers to delineate the stitches you need to cast off. If you don’t have any markers, you can make some out of loops of contrasting-colour scrap yarn.

Have you cast off “in pattern” before? It’s not too hard. Follow your rib pattern, looking at your knitting to see whether you need to knit or purl, and cast off by lifting stitches over as usual.

Here is a photo tutorial:

And here is a video from the same blog:

Could you tell us the name of your pattern and what it is (e.g. toy, sweater)?

Thanks for your prompt reply. Yes, I am very familiar with cast off stitch. My issue is in the instruction of: 5sts, rib stitch, (1k, 1p). I have not seen instructions written this way before. However, after trial and error, I was able to figure it out and got my project going. What the instructions were is to do: 5 sts ribbing style, cast off 4 and so on.

I do appreciate your help and know for the future I can count on my fellow knitters with any questions I have and FYU this is the project I am working on:
