We Canadians LOVE to talk about weather, and it varies from province to province, so it’s a neat topic for forums.
It’s cold and snowing now, I just went out to feed the birds, and 3 deer followed me around, licking up what they could. I put some piles out for them too, but they are hungry (and sometimes a bit greedy).
This is my front deck this morn:
and two deer near front driveway, licking off a fence post where I put a handful of birdseed.
It looks so beautiful! I love weather! And…I live in southern California. So I get to read about other peoples weather.
We do get some colder temps in the winter…it can be down in the thirties at night, but actual weather is a rare and special occurrence for us. It was 83 yesterday. Bah. Supposed to be cooler for Christmas though thank goodness!
I can’t guess what I mean by that either! :?? Must have been a random thought that didn’t translate and now I have no idea… I edited so I don’t confuse anyone else.
Yes, I’m glad I don’t have to drive in the snow. I wish we had more of a seasonal change though.
I am also jealous that you are so connected to nature. I’ve never had that (and I love nature!) So happy you’re feeding the deer, keeping them fat and happy.
Thanks Jan, didn’t mean to tease though…was hoping for something profound, hehe.
I do have tons of wildlife here, and my hubby tells everyone that I “feed anything that moves”. (not all true) but I do feed raccoons, especially ones with babies hanging from them; birds, squirrels, deer and two house cats.
Living with a huge beaver pond in one’s backyard sure offers a lot of contact with nature…loving it! (even if it is a bit off the beaten track).
This buck came last year, and left me an antler.
This is my fav photo I took of baby raccoons. Mama got upset when my hubby was cutting down a tree next to them, and scurried them up a bigger one.
Thank you for welcoming them! I feel it’s a shame to waste all this beautiful wildlife scenery on two old fogeys, living far from the madding crowd out here…so I try to share this beauty via photos at least.
I’m in Savannah, Georgia, and it’s now 41 degrees and raining. We really need the rain! No snow for us, though. Snow is rare for us. We’re on the coast and don’t get snow very often. It does get cold though. Last week it was in the teens and low twenties at night and not much warmer during the day. But, it’s warmed up quite a bit in the last few days. We have two seasons…hot hot summer and cold mild winters. I’d love just a little snow for a couple of days. I’ve NEVER seen a white Christmas in my life, and I’m in my 60’s.
Oh no, Sknitter56! - you’ve never seen a white Christmas?!!! what a shame!
if you want to send me your snail mail address, I’ll send you a homemade Xmas card of wildlife in our snowy December. I always make my own cards.
WOW what pictures. I am in the city of Quincy, MA and very rarely do we see racoons now. where a co worker lives in Weymouth mass she gets wild turkeys and deer… If i had the money I would love to live where the Eagles are. my favorite bird.
We got our first snow on the 21st the first day of winter, and we are getting more today and a possible nor’easter just in time for the commute home from the holidays !!!.
I love a white christmas guess its another one of those northeast winters that is going to SNOW off and on through out…
Wow, great winter weather photos and wildlife. I LOVE animals and nature too. I’ve only been in snow 3 times and for a southern girl it was not pleasant to feel but wonderful to see, from inside, through a window, and near a fire!
Well here in Lakeland , FL we are getting a freeze tonight but no snow with it. It never got out of the 40’s today. Right now it is at 39 and the temerature will be falling as the night goes on. The freeze will be fore hours not days like the rest of the country. But this is the 3rd night in a row we have had a freeze.
