How well does it work to use yarns of different weights?

I’d be knitting with 3 strands held tog. One strand would be super bulky (such as Red Heart Light and Lofty) and the other two would be medium? (Or perhaps 2 super bulky and 1 medium?)

Would this be more difficult? Would it look good?

(I’m going to be knitting Mosaic Blocks Blanket- brown version)

The best thing to do in this situation is to do a swatch. That is really the only way to determine if you like the fabric it creates and whether you can handle working with the yarns.

That makes sense, thank you.

yes jan yes you are on it listen to jan every1

I have worked with different weight yarns in the same project before - actually a pattern too. There are several options to create the same “gauge” so to speak. In one pattern it said to double strand lighter weight yarns to make it closer to the heavier weight one(s). You could also go down a needle size or two and knit 2-3 stitches to the one larger stitch (you’d had to do a swatch to see what works). And I think there was another option but I can’t think of it right now. In some projects (not necessarily an afghan though) it looks really cool to use the same needle size with different size yarns. Just my .02 …

She’s going to hold all the strands together so matching gauge won’t be as much of a problem.

ok. Suzeeq, that makes perfect sense.
