How do you think they did the collar on this? I really like the collar, but don’t want to buy the entire pattern just for one part of it.
Looks to me like a separate ribbed cowl. Shouldn’t be any problem to make.
Yes, it doesn’t look like it is connected to the dress. You could do it in the round. Cast on a bunch of stitches (evenly divided by 4) and work in K2,P2 ribbing for about 11 or 12 inches and then BO and it looks like to me the BO edge and the CO edge are sewn together. Or you could use a provisional CO and fold it over and knit the two sides together on the last row.
If it is connected to the dress, that dress has a very odd neck line.
Hehe, that’s kind of what I thought, and why I was confused. It looked connected to me, so I was trying to figure out how the heck they got the neck line to look like that.
I looked it up on Ravelry and it is connected. The tunic itself looks to have a very deep scoop/V neckline and the collar was picked up and knit around it. The pictures show the knitters wearing a camisole underneath; the V looks like it dips below the breasts. So if you find a similar pattern with a deep neck like that, all you’d have to do would be 2x2 ribbing for the cowl collar.
Good detective work Sue. That is an odd neck line, but as long as you wear something under it I guess it works.
Yeah, that’s one of the advantages to Ravelry; you can sometimes see a work in progress and it give you an idea of the construction.
Thank you so much!
