How unfortunate!

I am going to need more WOTA for my Mags Bag (previously was doing the Knit Picks Market tote) for my mom. I am short maybe 4 skeins tops. And you know what THAT means. In order to get the free shipping, I will need to find MORE stuff to buy!

You know, I did that with the Booga Bag that I’m working on – I did it double stranded with all these stripes (and made it bigger like people were talking about here on the forum) and basically just guessed how much yarn I would need. Of course, I was wrong – so I had to order more! Unfortunately, my DH pointed out that S&H was only like $1.99 or something for the small amount that I needed to order, so HE thought that it would be smarter to just order what I needed and pay the S&H, rather than spend $25 more to get free shipping :rollseyes: … Sigh… I hate it when he makes sense – and when he’s peeking over my shoulder as I order yarn online!! :blush:

I am so sorry, Josie, were you speaking to me??? My computer monitor is fuzzy ---- all I see is blah blah blah! ROFL! (just being silly of course)

I do know that shipping wouldn’t be too bad on just a few skines. and depending on colors, I may end up going with Elann instead…but I could pick up some Shine for a Picovolini (or however its spelled), and perhaps something else too, who knows!

Unfortunately, I can’t think of any place locally where I can get wool this inexpensively, even with shipping, so order it I shall! The good news is, that most of the yarn I am using is stash reduction, and we all know thats a good thing!

Believe me, Ingrid – I learned my lesson!! Especially now that I’d LOVE to try knitting some baby washcloths with KP shine – if I hadn’t been so rudely interrupted by DH, I’d already have it on hand and be able to try it out!! :doh:

My dh did the same thing to me the other day! I tried to convince him that going for the free shipping made sense since I would eventually buy more yarn anyway…but he didn’t fall for it. Then, I suggested I get a book I’ve been meaning to buy, and he thought that was reasonable. Don’t ask me why…maybe its because to him, books are valuable and yarn is “just string.” :rollseyes:

Y’know, that’s how they suck you in-spend just so and so amount and you get free shipping! But heck, I guess in the long run, it’s worth it, isn’t it? :wink:

I ordered 4 ferns and 1 pumpkin (I already had 3 pumpkins). I am not wild about the color I am using for the base of my Maggy’s tote, but I also figure that its the base, so won’t be as obvious. The colors will be as follows:

Base (black/brown tweed)
Hollyberry (I think thats what I have, whatever it is, its more autumnal in color than I had expected when I ordered)
Fern
Pumpkin

Then I will do a narrow stripe at the top of the Base color and probably use that for the straps to tie it all togther. Its a good accent yarn for this IMO.

I am not going to do the stripes quite like they have them - going to do my own thang.

I saw the bag this weekend at the LYS that was done in different shades of brown, orange and off white. It was really pretty, although I’m always nervous to try out new color combos.

I like my colors when I have them together, and when I squint…it is going to be fall colors - I think it will be really pretty all felted up. But I know how you feel about going out on a limb on colors. In this case, though, I already had 75% of my yarn from other projects that got de-railed.
