I am doing a shawl pattern,

I have done the increase bit but on the decrease says:-1:

Beginning dec: 1 row - ssk, k1, yo, ssk, knit to end of row - Therefore decreasing 2 sts
2nd row knit
rep last 2 rows, dec 1 st every other row until there are 4 sts.

does that mean I do the 2 rows,
*do just ssk, k1 and then knit to end of row or ssk, k1, yo, ssk and knit to end of row which means decreasing 2 sts everytime.

ssk, k1, yo, ssk is two decreases, but you’ve also got a YO in there so it’s really only a decrease of 1. So you’ll be doing -

row 1 - ssk, k1, yo, ssk, knit to end and turn
row 2 - knit row and turn

now repeat those two rows.

The pattern is Knit triangle shawl - it is a carron cake using two balls.

I’ve used one to do the increase and now on the decrease.

Here’s the part you are on -

STEP 3
Beg dec: 1st row: ssk. K1. yo. ssk. Knit to end of row.

2nd row: Knit.

Rep last 2 rows, dec 1 st every other row until there are 4 sts.

What I said above is correct. Do 1st row every other row and knit the second row. There are two SSK’s because there is also the YO so it balances out to one decrease every other row.
