How to YFRN

Hello everyone …I need help with these instructions…
Cast on 30
Row 1 knit
Row 2 Purl
Row 3 ……K2* yfrn, P1, P3 tog, P1, K2 …rep from* to end
Row 4 Knit

So my prob is:- when I attempt row 3 I end up with only 24 stitches on my needle
I’ve tried wrapping g it round twice and end up with 30 stitches but the subsequent rows then end up with a kind of lattice above them!
And that way only gives me 4 holes on the row not the 6 which are in the pattern….
I’m horribly confused :flushed:
Any advice would be much appreciated
Thank you in advance

Welcome to KnittingHelp!
What is the name of your pattern and designer?
The yarn to the front round the needle would be repeated 4 times within the 7 stitch repeat. In order to keep the stitch count the yarn round the needle should give you 2 loops. Sometimes the following row will have sts knit through the back loop to close up any hole although your pattern just has a knit row. Knowing the pattern will help.

Sometimes they like to kind of hide that info in the front or back of the pattern. Is there any info in a section called “special stitches”, or “stitches used”, that maybe says you need to knit through the back loop when coming to the yfrns? Or to knit into them 2 times?

I get 26 stitches when I count Row 3, so knitting the yfrn 2 times would make sense. It would help if we could see the pattern picture, so we know what you’re trying to achieve.

Thank you for taking the time to answer. I also got 26 stitches when I tried it ……I’ll try to add the photo of the pattern. It was bought from a yarn show in Cumbria and doesn’t appear on the sellers webpage…
UPDATE….the seller has replied to my email
She omitted to state that the yarn needed to be forward between the P1 and K2 sequence thus creating a second ‘extra’ stitch.!
I’ll give it a go and see what happens
Again, I appreciate your feedback

Yes, yarn to the front between the needles then over the right needle to the back. Then around between the needles to the front and again over the right needle to the back and around between the needles to be in postion to Purl.
Let us know how it’s going!
