How to switch work on needles? How to count rows?

Hello, I was wondering- I had a dropped stitch in my work, but forgot to go back and fix it and started on the next row. I am currently 3 knit stitches in- how do I transfer the work back to the original needle in order to continue?

Also, how do I count rows? I know this seems basic, but when I count I am not sure if I am looking at the pattern and counting them right.

You can pick up the dropped stitch and draw the loops through the strands between the sts where it should have been. The Tips page has several videos that should help under Fixing Mistakes.

If the knitting is stockinette, I count the rows by counting purl bumps on the WS. Or you count Vs on the Rs.

My aunt taught me to count the 2 bumps that are on each other as 2 rows. Idk if that helps, but it’s kinda hard to explain. Sorry.

That works if you’re knitting in garter stitch, knit every row. Any other stitch it’s 1 bump = 1 row.
