How to separate when working in the round.

I am a beginner knitter and I am working on a pattern that has you work in the round in the beginning then separate them for the rest of the pattern for the back.

I am a beginner so i was trying to find a good video on how to do that but i kept coming across armhole tutorials. The pattern maker also doesn’t really explain how to do it and just tells you to separate them. Do I have to cut the string and then start or is there a simple way that I am not seeing. Could anyone explain to me, or link a good tutorial as to how to do this? The exact instructions are below.

Back decrease
Start separating the back at the 11th row, you will now work back and forth. The first row is
a right side row.

What is the name of your pattern and designer?
Is the photo your knitting or is it a photo from the pattern?
No need to cut the yarn strand. In all likelyhood you just need to turn as you would at the end of a row and begin knitting on the purl side. You’ll be purling the sts that you just finished knitting.

From now on you’ll be working back and forth, turning when you reach the split or gap at the back. Place a marker at the turn as a reminder especially for the first several rows. After that the turn will be obvious and the marker won’t be needed.

Name: Halter Neck Top
Maker: unknown (found on pinterest)
The photo is from the pattern.

The maker mentions “The first row is a right side row” does that mean i would first purl so i can start the separation then when i am back on the right side i would star doing these slip 1 stitch purl wise step?

The rest of the back decrease instructions are below.

Instructions: Back decrease
Start separating the back at the 11th row, you will now work back and forth. The first row is
a right side row.
RS: slip 1 stitch purl wise * knit 2 stitches * ssk * k to the last 5 stitches * k2tog * k3, then
turn the work.
WS: slip 1 stitch purl wise * purl 2 stitches* p2tog * p to last 5 stitchessspp2*k1
Repeat those two rows 16 times. You have now finished the V decrease at the back of the
work.
Then continue back and forth, without decreasing for 32 rows to form the front of the knit.

The first row is a RS row so knit across the row like this:
RS: slip 1 stitch purl wise * knit 2 stitches * ssk * k to the last 5 stitches * k2tog * k3, then turn the work
So near the end of round, probably at a marker, complete the directions for the last 5sts then turn to the purl side to work the WS row directions. That is the point where the separation starts. From then on you will be turning to knit back and forth.

I finally understand! I was overthinking it way too much. Thank you! Your explanation helped.
