How to read the pattern

Hi, I am new at knitting. I need help with one thing. I am trying to knit golf headcover.
I got it started but now am at the end of second row that is

K.2, p.2, k.2, rep.fromto end. Rep.these 2rows 5times more, change to No.9 needles and cont. until piece measure 3ins.from beg.ending with 2nd row. Make holes for cord.

Next row:… I got to the end except the line { Make holes for cord} I dont understand what should I do?? I am stuck, please help me…

Doesn’t the pattern state how to make holes for the cord? It sounds like a row of yarn overs, with dropping the yo’s on the next row, followed maybe by another row of knitting/purling or k2 p2 (knit one, yo, k1, yo,…, then k(or purl) one, drop yo, k/p1, drop yo,…)

That would make a row of holes. Though, without pattern or picture, it’s hard to tell.

Do you have the link to the pattern?

Thanx, It doesnt have any picture or it doesnt state how to make it… but if you wanna see the pattern, I got it from www.craftown.com/knitpat17.htm

I am from Europe too.

The next row tells you how to make the holes. The yrn, k2tog is yarn a yarn over, k3tog sequence that will give you holes.

Next row: * K.2, w.r.n., p.2 tog., rep. from * to last 2 sts., k.2. Change to No. 8 (5) needles and beg. with 2nd row, work 3 rows in rib and inc. 1 st. at end of last row. Change to No. 7 (6) needles and rice stitch.

This is the instruction for making the holes. When you arrive at the point where it says “make holes”, it means to knit this row (which logically comes after the one before it).

It’s as follows: K2, yo, p2tog to the last 2 stitches, k2.
(w.r.n. means “wrap round needle”, which is the same as “wrap yarn round needle” or “yarn over”)

oh I am soo gratefull to you guys, I am gonna continue the next row…hopefully I will see it… lol

Why knitting is sometime soo confusing…??

It’s learning new terminology; after you’ve seen the same type of instructions a couple times, it won’t be as confusing because you’ll know what they mean.
