How to knit this?

1st row: (RS) K4. *yfwd. K3. Sl1K. K2tog. psso. K3. yfwd. K1. Rep from * to last 3 sts. K3
2nd row: K3. Purl to last 3 sts. K3
3rd row: As 1st row
4th row: Knit

I read the first row as:

Knit 4 stitches - Yarn Over, Knit 3 stitches, Slip 1 Stitch as if to Knit, Knit stitches 2 together, pass the slipped stitch over the two you knit together, knit 3 stitches, Yarn Over, Knit one stitch - (Repeat that whole last section until you have 3 stitches left) then Knit the last 3 stitches.

hw do you pass the slipped stitch over the two you knit together?

To pass the slipped stitch over, use your left needle and put in front of the slipped stitch and pick it up and pull it over the already knit stitch. It’s kind of like when you bind off/cast off a stitch. Hope this helps, not confuses.

Check out the video on this page under psso: http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/abbreviations_explained/

(click on the “slip 1 knit 1, psso” words)

it might help you to know that psso is a decrease. So when you finsih doing it you should have one less stitch on the needles. So pick it up and pass it over and right off the needle. it’s fun!

when i am knitting the first and third row, the slipped stitch would be the third from the top correct?

Top of where? The slipped stitch was passed over the k2tog, so it no longer exists.
