How to knit pant legs at the same time?

Hello Everyone,

I’m new to this site and also somewhat of a newbie knitter. I’ve taken to knitting easier than I thought I would. I’m working on knitting some wool shorts for my baby using the picky pants pattern and am stuck on how to do the legs? :?? Can someone give me some pointers?

Also is there a way that you can knit both legs at the same time?

TIA for your help.

Welcome! If the pant legs are knit in the round, you can knit them in tandem–than is have them both on their own set of needles. I’m not familiar with the pattern, though.

If you include the part you’re having trouble with, we’ll be glad to help.

Thank you for your help. Do you then knit each leg w/ two separate balls of yarn? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question.

Also when knitting each leg separately and you’ve casted off and finished one leg, how would you cast on yarn to finish the other leg?

If you were to knit them in tandem, then yes, you’d use two balls.

Either way, you’ll need to attach a new strand to one of the legs since you only have one strand of working yarn after finishing the body.

Scroll down on this page and there are different techniques for joining yarn.

Thanks very much for your help. I appreciate it.  Off to give it a go and hope I get it.
