How to knit a thumb guest

HELLO IM MAKING MAY FIRT MITTEN BUT I DONT UNDERSTANT THE THUMB PART SOMEONE HELP ME THANK YOU.

Thumb Gusset

Divide your 11 live stitches across three #8 dpns as follows: 4, 4, 3
Row 1: knit across all stitches, pick up 4 stitches in the open gap, and join in the round.
Row 2: knit to last 4 stitches, [k2tog] x2
Rows 3-12: knit
Rows 13&14: [k2tog]; repeat until only 4 stitches are left.
Break your thread leaving a 6” tail and thread it through the remaining 4 live stitches. Cinch
and tie off. Weave in all ends, wet block, and enjoy!

I’m not sure exactly which part you’re having trouble with, but if it’s the “pick up 4 stitches in the open gap” part, this might help you: http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/knitting-tips (scroll down to “Picking up Stitches.”)

I love knitting mittens. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Ronda. That You Tube video was great. I could never figure out written instructions for mittens.

I learn better by watching someone else, too! If you have checked out all the videos on this site, they are awesome!
