I bought some great wool in Canada 20+ years ago and no longer have the pattern OR the yarn info (came as balls without a band) The sweater I started back then from the lost pattern was knit on 4mm needles but it is making a very dense fabric and I want to frog it and make something else. How do I figure out what weight (ply here in Australia) it is so I’ll be able to use a suitable pattern?
Here’s a page that may help - http://yarnforward.com/tension.html You can use the wpi table at the bottom to get a general idea of weight.
Thanks so much for this great reference! I checked and it is an 8 ply (or DK) I guess I’ just have to up the needle size to 4.5mm. Thanks so much!
