How to... continuity of pattern. Sirdar 1802

Hi everyone,

I am fairly new to knitting. I am following this pattern and is says ‘1st and 2nd rows set position of 3rd pattern. Keep continuity of pattern as set (throughout).’ Does this mean that I am to knit every 1st and 2nd row mentioned so far in the pattern or just the last 1st and and 2nd row? I was just following the last 2 rows but the pattern doesnt look the same. I hope that makes sense. I have uploaded some pictures also. Thank you

Welcome!
There should be somewhere in the pattern where the “3rd pattern” is described. It’s probably the
p1,k3 repeat. This will be a change from the 2nd pattern that you have been working. You want to keep that pattern aligned with the first 2 rows even though you are decreasing at each end of the row.

You won’t be able to repeat the rows exactly as given because of the decreases but you want to be careful to continue the pattern stitch in the main body of the piece regardless of the decreases at the ends.
What is the name of the pattern?
