How to CO in the middle of the project?

I am making a baby sweater and it says…

“… Knit to second marker, 51(60)sts. Cast on 2. Turn and purl to first marker, 31(37)sts. Cast on 2…”

How do I cast those 2 stitches on each side? :??

Well, I don’t know if it’s right, but I’ve always used an M1A or M1T increase which is just putting a loop over the needle a certain way. It’s always worked fine. I’m sure Ingrid has done this so I’ll be curious to see how she does it, too.
