How to check sizing? (Can I?)

If I had known that I could, I would have converted this sweater to knit in the round. With all the other changes, I might as well have done that. ANYWHO…

Stupid question: without a dress form, is there any way I can check sizing on half a sweater? It’s taken me two weeks to get this far (the back), and I’m not looking forward to working for another two weeks to finish the front… and then find out that it doesn’t fit at all! :zombie:

I mean, I hold it in front of me, squoosh it around, and try to imagine, but we all know how that works.

Yeah, I know, the answer is probably, “No, you can’t, good luck,” but I felt like asking anyway. Crossed Fingers

Have you compared the portion you’ve done to an existing sweater whose fit you like?

Yeah, measure a sweater that fits you like this one (loose, snug, inbetween) and compare the size.

Hmmm…

Simple and obvious and, unfortunately, possibly confirming the worst. It’s bigger than a tight-fitting one and smaller than a loose-fitting one, which sounds perfect, but it’s a virtual baby-doll shape and I have nothing like that in a sweater. (It’s Knitty’s Jaden.)

I wonder if I could sacrifice an old t-shirt, cut out a false front, pin the two together, and try it on that way? You think that has any chance of working?

Thanks!

That’s a cute top.

That sounds like a pretty good idea - the t-shirt thing.
