How to change yarn weights to a pattern

I have some beautiful 6 super bulky yarn I picked up on a whim and would love to make a simple cable sweater but all the patterns I can find are for 4 medium yarn. Is there a way to make a pattern fit the yarn weight?

It’s not easy to make such a big change in yarn weights in a sweater. If possible you can use a smaller size as a guide but you’ll have to be careful about the length on the body and sleeves.

It might be better to find a pattern for superbulky or even adapt a bulky. These pattern really show off the cables and the super bulky yarn. Try a search on Ravelry for cable sweater super bulky to see more.

Thank you very much, I love the first two the most and I will definitely get started on one of them with the yarn. Thank you again. I live this forum. I dont know what I would do without it

Hello
I think you’ve already chosen your sweater pattern now but thought I’d add that’s Drops have super bulky patterns, yarn group E and F are called super bulky, I don’t know if it is exactly the right yarn you are using but you could also look into their free patterns.
Here’s one

I would check for super bulky patterns in ravelry first. They just might have a pattern suitable for you. Here is the link:

You can further refine it if you like:-)
