I understand how to cast on in the middle of a project, but my pattern tells me to cast on 3 stitches on each side of my i-cord. I don’t know how to do that. Can anyone please explain this to me in idiotese? :??
Probably the same way you co in the middle of something. Use a knitted CO.
I know this is probably very elementary and I’m likely making it far more difficult than it is (I tend to do that), but I’m still very confused.
I know how to cast on three extra stitches on one side of the I-cord, but not how to cast them on to the other side. If I carry the yarn all the way across the back of 6 stitches, instead of the three stitches I’ve been working for the i-cord, it doesn’t look right. Am I making any sense?
Well, I don’t know what your pattern is or what you are supposed
to doing with the sts after you cast them on but if it just that you
will be knitting them in rows then you would cast on the 3 sts on
one edge then knit (or purl) across the row to the other edge and
then cast 3. The difference of one row won’t matter.

Hmm, good point. What are you supposed to do after casting on the extra stitches?
