I am stumped after looking at books and online. How do you add on stitches in the middle of a row. Thanks, kfair
This is a commonly-asked question so there are lots of existing posts on this topic. A few that might offer insight:

So am I do gather that unlike “pick up and knit” where you are actually only picking up, casting on in the middle of a row actually is “cast on and knit” since it’s just like the knitted cast on where you move it to the left needle and then to get it off you have to knit?
It depends on the project. If you CO the sts at the end/beginning of a row, you turn and work back over them. If it’s in the very middle, like for a buttonhole or handle, keep going to the end of the row and work them on the next row.
