I’ve just finished knitting up the pieces of a sweater and it calls for blocking to size before stitching everything together. The yarn is Knitpicks Elegance (70% alpaca and 30% silk). It’s so soft! But how to block it? Can I just steam it?
I’m new, so you might want to hang around for someone more experienced. But, according to the Stitch n Bitch book, it’s not necessary to block all the pieces separately. The author recommends seaming your pieces together, and then blocking.
For how to block, check out the following website:
And you can google “blocking + knitting” for additional help. Hope this helps!
My favorite blocking guide is this Knitty article. In your case, I would guess the best option is pin and spritz, and steam as a last resort.
Thanks! I was hoping not to have to block before stitching, and if one book says it’s ok, then i’ll risk it :teehee:
