How to block a scarf

Good Morning Everybody

I have a question that has probably been answered dozens of times on this forum, but for some reason, I can’t find anything pertaining to it.

How do you block a scarf? The scarf pattern that I am working on is on the website “I live on a farm” and it is the New York scarf pattern.

Granted, I’ve been knitting a long time, but that is it…just knitting. My mother would always help me with all the “hard” stuff, so all I’ve really ever done is just the knit part of anything.

Thanks for the help!

I always wet-block. That means just wash it however you plan on washing it from now on, but don’t put it in the dryer (I never machine dry hand knits anyway). Roll it up in a towel and stand on it for a minute or so to press out any excess water, then lay it out to dry somewhere it won’t be disturbed (if you want to do any shaping, like to even out corners or open up lace, you should pin it down to some flat surface). Leave it there until it is dry.

Gotcha!

Thank you so much!
