I just finished knitting a ribbed scarf out of Rowan Yarn Cashsoft which is extra fine merino wool, cashmere and microfiber.
I need to block it to even out a few wonky stitches, but I don’t want to pill the yarn (which I found out after I purchased it that it is prone to do). I don’t really want to change the overall size of the scarf either.
So…what is the best way?:shrug:
Here’s how I block:
-soak the object in warm water for 5 minutes. I use wool wash, but you don’t have to.
-place the item on a towel, and press out the excess water ([B]NEVER WRING, OR AGITATE, AS THIS CAUSES FELTING![/B])
-Pin out the item to desired dimensions and leave it until dry.
The soaking and blocking will naturally even out any messy stitches. I hope that helps!

I don’t have a blocking board yet, so what do I pin the scarf to?
This scarf is for my brother for Christmas. He is a rather particular man, and I don’t want him looking down on handmade items. I spent toooo much on the yarn and don’t want to ruin it!!!

I actually don’t have a blocking board either. I put a large towel on the carpet and then pin it out. You can also pin it out on your bed.
