How to add a ruffle

I am making a carriage blanket. I would like to add a ruffle. when completed it will approximately 27 X24.

thanks

You can pick up sts on all 4 sides, then inc in every stitch on the next row. Then work a few rows for as long as you want the ruffle.

Thank you so much. I could not for the life of me remember how to do this and it is so simple.

Thanks again:hug:

I’m not really sure about ruffles, but if you’re interested in crochet borders for blankets, this site has a lot of great ideas. You just need to click on any of the baby blanket videos. I’ve added some of the borders to scarves and they have turned out really well. Good luck!

I was just thinking about doing this with a finished blanket I made. I was going to do it with one long circular needle, in the round. But I wasn’t sure if I need to do anything special at the corners? I want to keep the integrity of the square. I don’t want the ruffle to become like a “skirt” for the blanket. Does that make sense?

That makes sense: so you’ll need to either pick up a few more sts at the corners or maybe increase a few more sts on the first knit row around the blanket. You could practice on a swatch to get a feeling for just how many sts you’ll need for the fullness you want.

You can pick up an extra one or 2 at each corner, then on every other round do a dble increase. I like k, yo, k in the corner stitch, but you can inc 1 before and 1 after the corner one any way you like.
