How should I get ready for this?

Ok, I have decided that I really really need to make the Two at Once, Toe Up Sock Pattern from KnitPicks. But of course, there’s an issue. I have never knitted anything in the round. It says even a beginner can do it, but I’m not so sure.

I would, of course, need to buy needles and yarn, but I also want to practice everything first. So… could some experienced person take a gander at the pattern and tell me what sorts of stitches I should practice before attempting my first pair? I have tried to figure it out from reading the pattern, but I could use another brain on this.

Thanks so much!

If I were you, I would read through the pattern and check out the “Abberviations Explained” tab (above, right) which has links to the videos for all the sts you will find in that pattern. Check out the knitting in the round videos (on this page) for the small-diameter on two-circs method. Amy also has a sock making video, although its not top down.

One odd thing I noted about that pattern is on diagram H on the second page, there are arrows that are supposed to be pointing to SOMETHING, but there’s nothing there, just arrows. Maybe someone should bring it to Kelley’s attention, since it’s her pattern (and KnitPicks is HER business! LOL).

I noticed that, too, but I thought maybe I had the wrong version of adobe reader or something.

I’ve been watching the videos and stuff. I watched the sock video and have abetter idea about the heel stuff, too! Hopefully I will be getting some circular needles soon and I will practice with them before I start on my first pair of socks! If anyone has any more suggestions, though I am totally receptive!
