I have a Vintage Ski Jumper pattern with fairly basic instructions.
However there is absolutely no clue as to what amount of yarn is required.
How do I go about working this out?

It’s going to be an estimate but buy a bit extra yarn just in case.
Jimmy Beans has a knitting calculator on their site:

which will give you a general idea.
Interweave also has an estimate:
From there you could look up similar sweaters including Norwegian knits and look at the yardage for the lice pattern and intarsia motifs.
It’s not going to be much yarn required for the figures although the lice patten will require more.
Those vintage patterns are tricky. It’s either unusual terminology or missing specifications by contemporary standards and sometimes both.
