It was a hand-painted cashmere I found locally. I’ve used it several times and loved it. I wish she hadn’t stopped making yarn. Sock Pixie makes some similar for around $25 but I don’t see the cashmere blend on her site anymore.
I was wondering if it had cashmere in it.
I don’t mind paying more to buy yarn from someone who is making it themselves or who has a small business, but I’m still not thinking my budget could squeeze out $50 for a pair of socks. Well maybe once.

My mom made socks 30 years ago out of cheap acrylics so they weren’t very nice. I noticed that the ‘sock’ yarns seemed much nicer, but it still seemed kind of pricey.
Since several of you say 50g will do one sock, $8 or $10 a pair is definitely reasonable.
