i only have one pair of circ. addi turbos size 8. i really do like them, but to try adn get all of the circs in addi turbo is just WAY out of my price range. i would like to get boyles or denises (it will probably have to be boyloes so my dog doesnt chew up the plastic ones) but will they frustrate me beyond belief? how much worse can it be or is it worse at all?
I had absolutely no problem with Boyes until i found a good source of inexpensive Addis and got spoiled by them. I had two sets of them in fact. Once i got spoiled by the Addis i switched to Denise’s because the join is more similar.
oh whoa! that is cheap! i mean, its still expensive, but i feel more comfortable trying to buy those, than from the LYS. its like half the price! does this seller combine shipping charges?
im a new knitter. what are your most often used circulars? i have a 16" size 8 US for a hat i was making. i would like to try a longways knit scarf, and a sweater someday.
if you send him the auction numbers and ask for an invoice he will. 1.50 for the first pair and $1.00 for each of the rest. I have 10 pairs waiting for me at the post office!
think about how much a pair of Bamboo or a pair of boyes cost in the store. The bamboos are usually 8-10 and the boyes are usually what? 3-5? Not a huge jump in price for these when they are so much better AND they aren’t a one time use kinda thing!
sorry i missed your other two questions. I usually use 16s and 24s the most. and i am planning on trying socks on two circs as soon as i go pick up that package at the post office! well maybe not THAT soon but ya know…
Wow. So that’s who “that jeff guy on ebay” is. When I get my next financial aid check, I’m so going to get all the circs I need for my waterlily top, and then I’m going to start a knit-along. Thanks for the link!
At our Ben Franklin store, the most expensive SusanBates Silvalume circulars are $6.95. I’m willing to bet that they are just as good as Addi’s. Ben Franklin seems to have the best size selection of them.
I just bought my first pair of addi turbos last week , and I know a lot of folks around here will probably lynch me because they love them, but I just was not that impressed with them being ‘so much’ better than any others especially at that type of price increase. So it really is going to end up being personal preference, keep trying and find what you really like.

There are a lot of people here who have said wonderful things about the Silvalumes. I have never seen them that I recall and no Ben Franklin stores in my area anymore… (I loved Ben Franklin when I was little!) I would definitely consider trying them too!
Really it’s just a preference thing–I don’t like Addi Turbos very much because they are too slippery for me. I love my Denises! So just because everyone else raves about Addis doesn’t mean they’re the needles you absolutely must get! I would try other kinds before buying tons of Addis if you’re uncomfortable with the price.
im gonna try soem boyles 26" size 11US for my next scarf and ill see how it goes. i really did like the addis. they seemed too slippery at first, but then i got the hang of it and it seemed like i knit so much faster with those than any other straights i have
Well if you liked them, they gave you the greatest ebay place to get them for sure, so start saving pennies , if you like them, they are worth every penny to have a tool you enjoy.
