# How do you

‘Cont in st-st, beg with a purl row, dec 1 st at each end of every following 12th (12th: 14th: 16th) row 4 times. 55(59:63:67) sts.’

can someone explain to me what that means?

‘Cont in st-st, beg with a purl row, dec 1 st at each end of every following 12th (12th: 14th: 16th) row 4 times. 55(59:63:67) sts’

The numbers in (parentheses) are for the different sizes.

If you’re knitting the smallest size, you’ll do this:

Continue knitting in stockinette…
start counting rows on the wrong side (purl row will be row 1)
at the 12th row, decrease one stitch at the beginning, then decrease one stitch at the end.
then knit in stockinette stitch for 12 more rows, and decrease one stitch at the beginning and end of that row.
Continue doing that until you have 55 stitches left on your needle.

Shandeh is absolutely right. Just be sure you decrease at EACH end of every 12th row.

Thanks for the correction! I’ll adjust my instructions in the earlier post.

I want to thank you so much for your help. I appreciate it very much.

You’re welcome! I hope it turns out well for you.
