I’m trying to figure out how to regularly increase in the center of 1x1 rib stitch so that the finished work looks like V’s that start at the center and radiate outward. Does anyone know how to do this? The back side of the work looks basically the same, but it appears that the start of the “V” on one side alternates with the start of a “V” on the back side.
How do you decrease the 1x1 rib in the center to mirror the way you increased?
I’d love to have someone help me figure this out!
You could do a double increase so there would be 2 new sts and it would fit in with the rib st.

Use an even number of stitches. In between the two center stitches on the right side, make one but knit into the front and back of this one stitch. Then continue in pattern on the wrong side, the right side, and the wrong side again. On the fourth row after the increase, do the same. Repeat until desired width.
A double decrease works for symmetrical decreases. You insert the right needle knitwise into 2 sts on the left needle and slip the to the right needle, knit the next st and pass the slipped sts over it and off the needle. Both the increases and decreases form a very pleasing pattern.
