How do you hold your magic loop?

2nd question of the day! (Just found this great site).
I am really comfortable with my straight needles and am using magic loop for first time, trying to use my fingers to hold the yarn the same way.
Its not working though and I have to drop & pick up the working yarn for every stitch!
Its driving me mad and slowing me down. Any tips?
Thanks

Magic loop suggests to me that you want to knit someting in the round. Whatever you use, the first needles are horrible. It’s a good training in temper management, patience…
As for the drop & pick up: have a look at continental knitting, where the yarn is over your left index finger and you sort of pick the yarn.

I’m guessing that you hold the yarn in your right hand since you mention drop and pick up. Are you accustomed to knitting with the right needle anchored somehow, under your arm cottage style or lever knitting maybe? That would be a huge difference when knitting with the shorter tips of circulars. The only thing I can suggest is watching videos to see how other English style knitters hold the needle and yarn at the same time. I wish you all the best.

I did find this video that might give you some idea of how to manage things.
