I’ve made 3 cardis and I’m not happy with the way the buttons are attached, they seem flimsy to me. Is there anything I can do to reinforce them? I thought of attaching a 1’ clear button on the back for stability, but not sure if that’s a good idea.
Yes, I put buttons on the back sometimes for stability. I’ve never used one that big, but I am usually making baby sweaters.
I made the buttons for mine so I spaced the holes large enough to give me a good bond (it was a bulky yarn).
A button on the back is a good idea.
The button on the back works well, but go with a smaller button. I think the large one would make “buttoning up” awkward, would be difficult to manipulate.
I agree with this and the button on the back or a felt circle works well, too. Be sure to wrap around the threads a couple of times to make a “neck”, helps alot!
Thanks all.
I like the last reply’s idea too of making a felt circle, I can crochet or knit it out of the same yarn, then felt then sew on with invisible thread and then attach the outer buttons.
