How do I twist stitches on ws?

I am working on the Vogue Knitting pattern, two color top from the spring summer edition. It is a top down raglan (my first sweater ever although I have made numerous socks, mittens, and dog sweaters) I am having difficulties with two things. First the directions say when changing colors twist yarn on wrong side. I am not sure what they mean by that. My increases on each side of the markers are fine, but at the color change there are big holes. Second, how do I continue a k2,p2 rib with increases and decreases on the edges? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you change colors, you have to ‘twist’ the stitches to avoid the holes, since the yarns are not connected to one another.

The simplest way to do this is to hold the yarn that you’re no longer using over to the left on top of the one hanging. Then work with the one hanging. If you do this on every row, including when you switch while working on the right side, it will twist the stitches.

If you need a visual, you can see how Amy changes colors in the Intarsia video in the Advanced section.

As for the k2,p2 rib, you continue to knit the knits and purl the purls as they face you, even if there is only one on the edge. In other words, your ribbing will go from

kkppkkppkkppkk to
.kppkkppkkppk
. ppkkppkkpp

I shall get right to it… Thank you I think I can save the sweater!

You don’t really twist the stitches but are twisting the yarn colors around each other.

Yes, yes. The yarn is twisted, not the stitches.:aww:
