How do I swap to working on different armholes on circular needles?

Hi there, I’m a beginner making a sweater for the first time. I’ve finished decreasing stitches and bound off the front side, now I’m looking to work the back side, but it means I’ll have the stitches and yarn in my right hand to work. Is that correct? It just feels a bit backwards to how I worked the front panel. I’ve provided an image to illustrate what I mean.

Welcome to KH!
Are you right handed and knitting right-handed? Are you a thrower (yarn in the right hand) or do you knit continental (yarn in the left hand) or some combination of the two?
This sweater looks to be knit in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row) with the knit side to the outside or public side of the sweater. You can turn so the knit side is facing and attach the yarn loosely as shown below leaving about a 6 inch tail and start knitting across the row from left hand needle to right. The needle with the sts will be in your left hand, the empty needle in your right.

Hey there! Thanks for the warm welcome:) soooo I’m left-handed but I knit right-handed, and I usually keep the yarn in my right hand. Appreciate that sounds odd but my grandma taught me to knit and she is right-handed so I’ve just always copied what she did

I’m the same so essentially a right handed knitter. Turn your work so the needle with the sts is in your left hand and you should be good to go. If it still doesn’t make sense, come back and ask again. Good luck with this very pretty sweater.
(The neighbor who taught me to knit as a child, told me she could only teach right handed, so that’s the way I learned too. Much easier to follow patterns without having to edit for lefty knitting.)

Thank you so much :pray:t3: was so worried if I didn’t follow the pattern to a tee I’d ruin the design, so I really appreciate your advice!

I love that turquoise and orange combination you’ve chosen.
I hope you’ll post a pic of the finished sweater, I’m sure it’s going to be stunning in those colours.
