I bought a set of Susan Bates circs today, but the cable keeps rolling back up. Is there a way to straighten the cable? I thought I had read something about it here but I can’t remember where! Thanks in advance!
You can dip it in very hot water and then hold it straight while it cools, or you can hold it straight while you heat it with a hair dryer. ![]()
Well, that is certainly easy enough! Thank you, Ingrid!!
They’re good to learn on, but eventually you’ll probably want to get some flexible cable circulars which require no dipping in hot water. For good fairly inexpensive ones I recommend Knitter’s Pride. KH sells them in their shop! I prefer them over the other ones because they work great for all methods.
I agree! Out of all the kinds I’ve tried (KnitPicks, Susan Bates, Clover Takumi and Stitchberry), the Knitter’s Pride cables are by far the best!
My KnitPicks Sunstrucks are good for things that need a little less slide on the needles and my Knitter’s Pride Nova set is great for just about anything. Between them, the only other needles I need are for socks, just because socks use smaller needles than come in the sets. Nova fixed circs are my choice there. They seemed expensive when I got the first set but I bet they’ve saved me at least that much because I don’t have to buy needles in different lengths. Now I just need to turn some UFOs into FOs so my needles are all back in the cases. Nah, if I need the tips to start something new I can put buttons on the cables. :roflhard:
