I’m taking the back of a sweater off the needles. I bound off some and now it says to transfer the ones I just knit onto a stitch holder. My confusion is I don’t know which ones to put on the stitch holder first so I’ll be able to get them off correctly when needed. In other words, do I put them on from the pointed end of the needles which seems the easiest or do I put them on from the other end.
You can use a piece of waste yarn or another circular needle. I prefer waste yarn because it’s easier to knit the other stitches while those are waiting.
Waste yarn - thread a yarn needle with some finer, smooth yarn and thread it through the stitches as they are sitting on the cable now…so purlwise. Make sure the waste yarn is long enough so they don’t slip off. I make it long enough to tie loosely, but maybe that’s just me.
Another circ - Use a smaller needle size than the one you are using for the project and thread it through purlwise. If you are using Options I would remove the needle(s) and use the caps to prevent the stitches slipping off or use a long enough cable it’s not a problem.
I like to slip mine onto another circ because then you can just knit off it when you’re ready to work that part again. It can be fairly flexible, though not as much as scrap yarn.
