How do I make holes on my work?

Hi every nice person reading my thread!

Ok, so my question is simple: How do I make holes on my work? You see, I’m working on a hat that has eyeholes on it, but… Well, I just don’t know HOW to make them. I know I should of figured it out before even casting on, but well, it’s never too late.

So, can anyone throw any suggestion/link for my problem?

(The holes I’m looking for are 9 rows big, so decorative stitches won’t do it…)

eye holes are pretty big…

i make them like VERTICAL buttonholes.

knit to eye hole point. bind off X (1 inch? more? a double hole (ie a single hole for both eyes? maybe 4 inches?)

continue.

IF Knitting in rounds
R2: knit to bind off (begining of eye hole)
turn work as if knitting flat. work to other edge
turn work and knit back to eye hole edge
NOW cast on (use simple, (aka backward loop) or twisted backwards loop or knit cast on X (as many as you bound off.

IF there is a space (ie 2 eye holes and not 1 double with 1)
at the space take some scrap yarn and Knit 1 row, purl 1 row, knit 1 row drop yarn, and KNIT across those stitches,
then cast on for second eye hole…

continue to work in the round

Well, it does make sense… Hm, ok I’ll try it. I’ll tell you how it works out…
