How do I decrease 6 it’s following these instructions

I’m knitting this preemie hat I gave followed to row 8 /purl

Now I’m supposed to Dec 6 it’s on every alt row till 13 … how help

I think the size you are making is the smallest, pink stitch count. You have 19 sts.

If you look at the last 8 rows there have been 6 sts decreased on each decrease row (rows 1,3, 5, 7) and you’ll do the same in this next row. If you look how the decreases took place, k1, k2tog, k4, then it was k1, k2tog, k3, next k1 k2tog k2… so the pattern will be

k1, (k2tog k1) 6 times

This begins with k1 = 1 st

Uses 3 sts for each instruction in brackets × 6 times = 18 sts

Total used = 19 sts

Total decreased = 6 sts

Does this make sense?
