I know my own measurements, but how do I know hwo that will translate into the size of the finished garment? Is there a way to guess how much ease I need to figure in just by looking at the photos of the pattern? Or will it be trial and error?
FYI, I really want to knit the Indian Summer Jacket from Interweave Knits(freebie), any idea how much ease there is on this one?
You could find a sweater/shirt you really like the fit of and lay it flat (without stretching) and measure that. Use that to compare to your actual measurements and you can get a pretty good idea of the amount of ease you like.
It could be that the model in the picture is wearing a size that is too big for her or because she’s really rather skinny, but it looks like that shirt isn’t really fitted to detail the body.
Here’s a link that has ease and measurement standards.
