How can i felted method?

Hi…
i don’t speak english very good, but i understand about knitting and this is enough for me.
however i don’t understand one thing, how can i felted method?
please help me, and please use simple sentences. :oops:

[b]A felted project has 2 steps

Knit your project following the pattern using 100% wool yarn
(it will be HUGE)

Felt your project by washing it in the washing machine using lowest level , hot water. It will shrink (felt) to the right size.[/b]

If you are going to do a felting project be sure to read step by step instructions and follow them. I wrote these to go hat gifts at Christmas time … for non knitters …

Easy Felting Instructions for Your “Perfect Fit” Hat

Felted “cloth” is made by matting, condensing and pressing
wool yarn that has been knitted using hot water and agitation.

Your hat is knit to be felted to a perfect fit for your head. This may take 30 minutes or more, but watch closely to get the exact finished size you need. Felting time varies with yarn, water type, temperature, and amount of agitation.

  1. Place hat in a zippered bag or pillow protector.

  2. Set washer for hot wash, low water level, and maximum agitation.
    Add a small amount of mild detergent. Extremely hot water is not
    needed or desired, as you must be able to handle your hat
    during the process.

  3. After 10 minutes, check on the progress. Check again every 5
    minutes, resetting the washer as often as necessary to continue
    agitating. Do not let it drain and spin. Every time you check,
    gently pull to shape the hat. When it appears to be the
    right size, squeeze to remove water and check the fit on your
    head. If more felting is needed, return hat to the washer
    and continue agitating. DO NOT let your hat get TOO SMALL.

  4. When your hat is the right size, rinse completely in the sink with
    cool water, use towels to remove as much water as possible. Put the
    hat on your head and shape, you can pull and scrunch, it
    is not fragile! Don’t be afraid of making the crown fit and
    the brim look exactly the way you want … rolled up, left down, flared,
    part up, part down … the style you like most!

  5. Place the shaped hat on a bowl that is the same circumference as the hat crown and allow to air dry. You may check your hat for fit and style as it is drying, pulling, and shaping as needed.
