I’m beyond help. I’ve knitted back and front of lovely jumper for my 9 year old grandson but won’t have enough wool to finish the sleeves. I’ll have to undo back and front to provide enough yarn for sleeves and give to a younger child. Wool no longer available. Have already tried a contrasting colour for ribbing. Learn from my mistake Ladies and don’t try to economise on quantities when buying wool.
Hi Hamfisted,
That is such a shame! You don’t want to undo all of your good work.
Have you checked on Ravelry to see if anyone has any of the wool in their stash they are willing to sell?
Thank you for the thought, but I have no idea of the brand/name/code or anything. I have learnt a very useful lesson!!
That’s frustrating. Hopefully you can start again with enough yarn this time to complete the project?
Years ago I knit a jumper for my then fiancé and ran out of yarn. Quite a lot of time had elapsed in the meantime, so when I went to the shop to get more, the assistant informed me that they no longer had that shade in stock and scolded me for not getting more of it in the first place or not coming sooner for it. I was quite taken aback - felt like a foolish school girl!

Why not stripe the sleeves with a contrast or toning colour and do the neck band in the same colour as well. Children grow out of clothes so quickly it’s a shame to undo your knitting and start again. As long as it’s the same weight yarn there shouldn’t be a problem,
That’s a good idea Pat. I wish we had a shop in Canterbury with a wide range of wool and colours. I will have a search before I undo all my work. I’ve already tried John Lewis in London and C & H Fabrics. Belinda
Have you tried on-line yarn suppliers? I’m surprised there’s not a big yarn shop in Canterbury! Good luck with your search.
